Dior - A success story

Dior laid a fashion foundation with its first collection and was partly responsible for making Paris known worldwide as the fashion capital. Under the leadership of the French designer Pierre Cardin, who was considered a co-founder of the futuristic fashion of the time, Dior achieved international attention. The company quickly expanded into other areas beyond women's fashion; for example, the first perfume "Miss Dior" was released just four years after the company was founded. After Christian Dior's death in 1957, Yves Saint Laurent took over the artistic direction. His first collection, in which he used trapeze lines in his clothes instead of the prevailing wasp waist, was a global success and another milestone in the fashion industry from the house of Dior. The women also celebrated the designer for not using constricting stiffeners in the clothes, thereby creating a new wearing comfort for women at the time.

The story of an empire

Dior is now a billion-dollar luxury goods company and is no longer limited to the fashion sector. Dior is also represented with leather goods such as handbags and an accessories line with eyeglass frames, perfumes and cosmetics. Dior has also released its own collections in the shoe segment, from sneakers to heeled boots. The French fashion brand's business areas also include a wristwatch segment in which various designers, such as Galliano, have already presented their models under the Dior umbrella brand.
