The story of Etro began in 1968 when the then 28-year-old Gimmo Etro founded a small fabric weaving company with his wife Roberta. Etro's early evident preference for exclusive prints and high-quality fabrics goes back to Gimmo's numerous travels through India. In 1983, Etro finally entered the fashion business and launched the Etro label with a small collection of scarves, shawls and ties. In the 1980s the range was expanded to include leather goods, handbags and home textiles. In 1994, Etro designed his first fashion collection for men and women, which has since been shown at Milan Fashion Week. Since 2010, the exclusive label has also been marketing women's and men's fragrances.

Even today you can tell Etro that the fashion label goes back to a fabric weaving factory.
