Fendi Second Hand Pieces
Fendi stands for Italian craftsmanship and elegant designs. The exquisite style of the Fendi collections was primarily influenced by the designer Karl Lagerfeld, who died in 2019 and was hired in 1965 as designer of the women's collection. Then as now, the characteristic FF logo is a symbol of quality at the highest level in the fashion world.

Fendi – sophistication from Italy
When Adele Casagrande opened her shop for furs and leather goods, which were sought after at the time, she certainly didn't realize that she and her husband Edoardo Fendi would soon be running a fashion empire - although in 1932 she opened a second boutique on Via Piave in Rome Signs were good. As early as 1955, the couple presented their exclusive fur and leather goods creations at a fashion show, which were very well received.
Adele Casagrande and Edoardo Fendi were not only a well-coordinated team professionally. Their private happiness also remained constant and gave them five daughters, all of whom joined the company after the Second World War. In 1964, each of the Fendi sisters inherited a 20% share and took over their own area of the company. However, the sisters' absolute breakthrough came in 1965 with the engagement of fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, who remained chief designer of Fendi's women's collection until 2019. The famous “FF” from Fendi was also penned by the designer.
From fur design to a handbag empire
Karl Lagerfeld designed his first fur collection in 1969 called “Haute Fourrure” (high fur art). Some of the unique pieces were unaffordable and so a ready-to-wear collection for fur fashion was brought out in the same year. The range of the following years was expanded to include accessories, bags, jewelry and perfume. Fendi set another milestone with the creation of the Paquin pattern. The dark brown and golden brown vertical stripes still characterize various Fendi pieces today.
The change came at the end of the 1980s, as fur came under increasing criticism and sales declined. The Fendi sisters intervened and caused a restructuring. A youthful second collection for women was launched and a traditional leather goods collection was revised. Rescue came in 1999 with Silvia Fendi's idea of the "Baguette handbag", which gained world fame when fashion icon Sarah Jessica Parker wore it in the cult series "Sex and the City". Its successors, such as the “Spy Bag”, the “B Fendi Bag” and the “Peekaboo”, have now become an integral part of the fashion world. Also popular are the removable, colorful “Strap You” shoulder straps from Fendi as well as the Karlito Fendi Monster – the extravagant jewelry pendant for Fendi bags.
Fendi in modern times
Fendi has been part of LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy) since 1999. Under new management, numerous investments were made and the Fendi brand was brought into modern times in a modern look. Today the sale of leather goods accounts for the largest share. Fendi worked with Karl Lagerfeld for 50 years. Every year, two ready-to-wear collections for men and women as well as the well-known haute couture collections are created. Since the fashion pioneer's death in 2019, Fendi has been looking for a new chief designer. Silvia Fendi took over the position to bridge the gap.
