Kennel & Schmenger was founded in 1918 in Pirmasens, Germany, then widely known for its shoe production. Back then, under the name ZUKUNFT Schuhfabrik, Fritz Kennel was able to place his young company on the market through good quality. In 1950, when August Albert Schmenger joined the company, the name changed to Kennel & Schmenger. A few years later, Klaus Kennel, the grandson of the founder, also began working in the family business. Kennel & Schmenger is still family-owned today and now employs almost 200 people. The brand's production is still based in Pirmasens. This makes the premium label one of the few manufacturers that does not have its shoes manufactured by service providers abroad. In general, traditional shoemaking, careful handcraft and the resulting quality are among the main trademarks of Kennel & Schmenger.
