Parajumpers – An extraordinary inspiration

The Parajumpers brand was created in 2006 from the collaboration between Ape & Partners and the Italian designer Massimo Rossetti. The founding of the new fashion label is thanks to an extraordinary encounter. Rossetti met members of the 210th Rescue Squadron in a bar in Anchorage during a trip to Alaska.

The rescue unit, nicknamed the “Parajumpers” (usually just called PJs for short), is known for carrying out the most demanding and dangerous rescue missions in the world. Essentially a rescue unit for downed fighter pilots, the Parajumpers are called upon for countless other rescue missions. They rescue mountaineers on the highest peaks in the world, rescue sailors in the most remote corners of the world's oceans and come to the aid of submariners at great depths. The PJs are among the best trained and equipped troops in the world. No wonder, since their motto is: “So that others can live”. For Rossetti, meeting these unique people was the inspiration to create the Parajumpers brand.

Innovation, high-tech and functionality

Just like the Parajumpers themselves, the fashion brand stands for robustness, innovation, high-tech and practicality. From the very beginning, Rossetti's aim was to create outerwear with Parajumpers that could not be compared to any other brand. The jackets, parkas and blousons from Parajumpers are therefore made of robust nylon and high-quality leather and often have a removable inner lining and a hood with fur trim. The fabrics are windproof and water-repellent, no matter how bad the weather, and offer perfect protection against cold and wet conditions. The trademark is the carabiner hook borrowed from skydivers. In terms of functionality, most Parajumpers jackets offer large cargo pockets on the front, which in turn contain additional small pockets for transporting mobile phones or GPS devices.
